Ditch The Scale Challenge

Happy Hump Day!

A little lunch time post on this busy Wednesday...

I have a problem.

I have OWD (Obsessive Weighing Disorder).  I catch myself weighing once, twice sometimes even three times in a day!!  So I've decided that for a whole month I will ditch the scale.

It would have been way better had I thought of this a month ago and I could have called it "No Weigh May".  The only clever thing I could come up with for June is "Don't Weigh Yourself and Try Not To Blow Up Like A Balloon June" ;)

I found this article on sparkpeople.com titled "4 Signs It's Time To Step Off The Scale" - take a look at the article there, but I've highlighted some of the main points below:

1. You constantly worry about weighing in.

2. You weigh in more than once per day.

3. You can recite your weight to the nearest fraction at all times.

4. The scale determines how you feel about yourself for the day.

I think that many of us can admit to being guilty of one, if not all of these things!  For some reason, it seems like the scale defines how we feel about ourselves.  If the number that we have in our head about what we think we should weigh doesn't show up on the scale, it automatically puts a damper on our day and makes us feel bad about ourselves.

This is the first step towards feeling comfortable in my own skin without worrying what the scale says!

No, this won't be an excuse to eat whatever I want and stop exercising...I'm still a girl on a mission to lead a healthy lifestyle! But maybe, just maybe it'll be a way for me to let go and stop worrying so much about calories in vs. calories out.  I'm just going to live my life, eat good clean food and exercise regularly!  If my clothes are starting to fit a little tighter, I'll know I need to make some adjustments.  I'm excited to see the results of my little experiment :)

I want to challenge each of you to do the same!  Please leave a comment below if you'll join me in the Ditch the Scale Challenge!
